A Level Chemistry Revision "Naming Aromatic Compounds"

A Level Chemistry Revision "Naming Aromatic Compounds"

????

In this video, we look at naming aromatic compounds. First we explore compounds with one substituent on the benzene ring for example methylbenzene. We then look at some non-systematic names such as benzaldehyde. Finally, we explore how to name aromatic compounds with multiple substituents on the benzene ring.

can i use toluene instead of methylbenzene in naming?
@nancee5722 Says:
Isn't it 1-fluoro-3.4-dimethylbenzene? because the prefixes di, tri, tetra aren't considered when naming an alkyl group? and F comes first before M so it's 1.

Hello sir, Will you ever consider making a level physics videos? I just started year 12.

Hello sir, I am starting year 12 this year and i am just wondering if you will finish all of year 13 biology and chemistry by the time I get to year 13(so the end of this academic year)

Hello Sir, This question isn’t actually linked to this video but it’s linked to the “Shapes of Molecules” video (I couldn’t comment underneath it as the comments were turned off) I’m just confused about something. You know for drawing the bond angles how can you tell which one would be a solid wedge and which one would be a curved line? How can you tel which bond angle would lie on the plane of the page? If an exam question asked me to draw out the bond angles for e.g. PCl5 will i lose marks for not containing the solid wedge? (i’m doing OCR btw) P.S. Thank you for your amazing videos because of them I was able to achieve 9 8 9 in my GCSE sciences - I couldn’t be more grateful for your videos.

I know this is an A-Level video but in your old GCSE physics videos, you said some equations will be given so is that still the case or has it changed ?

I kinda miss Secondary school science. Just sitting down and literally everyone starts screaming when your old and new intro played
