Improving Rural Teacher Retention: Developing Localized Strategies to Address Working Conditions
In 2022, REL Northwest partnered with Lower Kuskokwim School district (LKSD) to help identify evidence-based strategies and tools to continuously monitor and improve working conditions with the goal of increasing teacher retention. The one-hour webinar video, aimed at state and district leaders in rural settings, shares valuable lessons learned from LKSD. The webinar shares research findings on teacher working conditions and a process for using research and local data to identify actionable strategies to improve working conditions in rural schools and districts. The webinar includes perspectives and insights from practitioners and researchers including the Rural Superintendent of Schools from Lower Kuskokwim Schools in Alaska, a Montana State University Professor of Education in Rural Schools, and leading researchers on teacher working conditions.
