But wouldn't this imply that the Force is ridiculously large the first few angstrom you pull up? how can this be true?

<<@reluca81

I think you made a mistake for l in the triagle. you hve to use the Pitagora therome to determine de l from the triangle

Sir here one assumption is made that the rope is inelastic.. means the a part of applied force does not get used in elongating the rope... longer the rope longer the elongation...
>>
<<@kaboom4679
says :
This assumes zero stretch under the loading forces applied , which would mean using something besides nylon or polypropylene rope , like kevlar or spectra . Still this technique works . It also works against you if you are a rock climber or other rope user and get your rigging technique very wrong .

Great problem! And since he is pulling upwards it would reduce friction too assuming the wheels are sliding. But would it be better to pull the rope from closer to the tree or closer to the car?

<<@austing9060

Im just trying to think what would happen if the applied force is not equal distance between the car and the tree, extremely doubtful "you" will know where exactly that distance is, not to mention if youll even have access to that spot, ie a 2 ft drop down or something. It seems simple to work out, but im just trying to do it mentally late at night here
