<<@benjaminrobinson6507 says : what you're doing is flooding this signal so it causes a disruption in the connection ..>> <<@si1ver666 says : Tom Morello would eat this shit up>> <<@dalerothgordt8329 says : wouldn't this effect the gauss of the pickup? I would hate to see guys degauss their pickups trying this..>> <<@caseykittel says : Keep that thing away from my guitar pickups. A strong magnet can demagnetize the magnets in the pickup and weaken the output. No thanks!>> <<@StringDriver says : This video title would more-accurately read “debunking a scam guitar pick”>> <<@1shakezula1 says : I know it's an old video, but he's giving these scammers way too much credit. The "playing" showed in the ad is obviously mimed - not legitimate. Yes, the pick *kinda* does what they showed - but you will NEVER get it to do what they showed in their ad without a lot of audio trickery. Notice how far away they hold the pick, and how much it affects the sound... then compare to what you see in this video. It's not even close. The "shimmer" effect they showed is also IMPOSSIBLE without using an actual guitar pick. They never show anyone touching the strings with a pick in the ad - and that's intentionally done to mislead people. This was a scam, and I bet almost everyone that paid money for one felt cheated. If somebody is lying about what their product can do, then putting a massive price tag on a little magnet, THEY ARE SCAMMING. The idea that they put a lot of effort into this is laughable. You can do the same thing with any decently strong magnet. Being pick shaped is not helpful - metal picks sound like garbage.>> <<@Shelf0808 says : You know what *turns your guitar into a theremin*>> <<@alanhilder1883 says : Ok, getting picky... The strings are not magnets, but they are conductors. Moving a conductor in a magnetic field causes an induced current in that conductor. A current in a conductor causes a magnetic field. that magnetic field is inducing a current in the pick up coil of wire. There are many different frequencies being induced into those conductors.>> <<@Chef_Dyrek says : Nice>> <<@dungeoneering1974 says : 5:57 this sounds a lot like the effects on Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies album, like the intro and other parts of Unfinished Sweet>> <<@els1f says : 1:05 This would be the most interesting and comical thing anyone working in that store saw that day🙃>> <<@claytronico says : you have to excite the strings at a frequency in the audio band for that type of thing to work. A static magnetic field isn't going to do anything. When your swimming with the current you can't measure your velocity directly. The speed and control required to do what they are claiming is not reasonable, assuming the device is just a static field generator, a magnet. I suspect the ebow is sampling acoustic field and using that to drive a solenoid style electromagnet.>> <<@jubuttib says : 5:34 I'll have you know you don't just have a REGULAR pick, you have THE BEST pick, the XL Jazz III! =)>> <<@backwashjoe7864 says : Another approach to this would be to put a magnet in the tip of the tremolo bar.>> <<@sqawb2728 says : 3:11 hold up 🔥>> <<@mikereilly2745 says : modern rock and other types have gotten so bad , I imagine this pic will find its way in to use soon.>> <<@Suckassloser says : I mean saying its worth the price because of R and D for a 'pick' that does what any simple magnet can do is completely absurd. The price is a mark up for rubes who actually would spend money on it>> <<@dewinchy says : air guitar gets a new meaning>> <<@christianhertwig1593 says : Another physics channel regarding electric guitars 🤗👍. Long live electrical engineering 😂 There is another channel "Physik der E- Gitarre" by Professor Doctor Manfred Zollner. Also on YouTube. But it's not all easy to understand. Enjoy. By the way: Subscribed to your channel. Let's see what you'll surprise us with in other videos 👍🤗>> <<@mjohnson5108 says : megnets>> <<@Waldemar_la_Tendresse says : Sometimes I see a video on YouTube and spontaneously think “Has the human valley of stupidity already been reached, or is it still going downhill?”>> <<@curtisnewton895 says : yep, hoax>> <<@akaHarvesteR says : Physics _and_ guitars? This is more important than being on time for work.>> <<@billymanilli says : Kinda funny it goes from "I don't own a guitar", to "I managed to pick up a guitar", and it's a Fender Strat (is it a "REAL" one though...🤔) edit: too bad it's not rosewood fingerboard (although I LOVE the maple look!! 🥰) you could put some new knobs on that bad boy, and it'd look like "Excalibur" from Wayne's World>> <<@matthieuforte7618 says : Hi, Fantastic video ! What is the SW you are using to animate your drawings ? this is very cool !>> <<@neko39869 says : seeing you plug your h4n into this guitar just sent me on a rabbit hole and now i need to buy a cable to play through my H4n Pro that i havent touched in a while>> <<@ms9001 says : they arent a scam if it costs around the same as a magnet since it's just a magnet and does exactly what a magnet does. charging 50 euro for a small piece of magnet IS A SCAM!>> <<@jessebreakspear6656 says : I heard placing a magnet near your pickups can mess with how they are magnetized and negatively affect how they sound, like (just as a random example) you bottom 3 strings being super loud and your top 3 being super quiet. so if that is true then you will have to have your pickups re-gaussed if you use this thing>> <<@samuraiguitarist says : I think we ultimately had a very similar experience. As a guitarist I found no more value in it than my fridge magnet. If it doesn't work the way that it's advertised to work to me that's a dishonest scheme. I find the most egregiously false claim to be the ability to create "infinite sustain", that has been a big selling point, and the pick simply cannot do that. However you did a great job showing the nuance of the discussion.>> <<@natedoggschip says : Now do one explaining why Tonewood is a myth. Oh wait you just did 😅>> <<@easyname1 says : Tom Morello would have a field day with this>> <<@thromboid says : I wish more explanations of how guitar pickups work would emphasise that the strings are moving magnets. It's also worth noting that this makes these pickups velocity-sensing, which is one reason for the timbre being so different from that of an acoustic guitar. I wonder if anyone has experimented with permanently magnetised strings...>> <<@adamborka9275 says : If you want to ruin your pickup magnets play with these "magic/fun" magnet picks.. Strong magnets can demagnetize and flip or rotate pickup magnet polarity and these really affect the tone and sound of the pickups. I think people do not realize this thing at all.. :S>> <<@gofres says : My understanding of how pick ups work is... 1. The permanent magnet on the pick up creates an induced AC in the string. 2. The string then creates its own AC. 3. The coil on the pick up induces an AC from the strings B-Field. 4. The induced B-Field is sent to the amp to be boosted. Have I got this wrong?>> <<@BruceKoerner says : Important point. A magnet doesn't MODULATE the pickups, it SATURATES them. This suppresses the signal from the strings.>> <<@pawanghimirey2195 says : So, it is a theremin guitar?>> <<@wickedninja8599 says : "You can pick at the same time the left hand is hitting the strings and it will look like it's the pick doing the work..." It's called a hammer on.>> <<@mr1bienvenu1 says : Be careful with that magnet, you can ruin your pickup with it if you touch the pole pieces with it. You can reverse the polarity.>> <<@ArtieandtheFish says : #minutephysics By 2025, I would have hoped some cool new way of amplifying the electric guitar's signals would have been invented. Maybe something adopted from electric cars? Or the aerospace industry?>> <<@SLIMZ34 says : This was way longer than a minute>> <<@muzlee7479 says : Really a shame people can be bought this easily to just straight up lie>> <<@darksecret965 says : Close enough, welcome back Jimi Hendrix>> <<@vincentwashum9876 says : Great and informative video!>> <<@TheHazbean-ks3gi says : Now play wonderwall>> <<@navrasicsi says : It sounds similar to a kill switch.>> <<@theunwantedcritic says : There’s easier ways to get the same sound>> <<@gengashaunt3322 says : I'd never seen what you look like, and you did not look at all like I thought you would, but now that I've seen you, your voice matches you so much I don't know what I was expecting but it feels wrong now>> <<@rockrenegade says : Inverse square law says no 😆>> <<@ChokingAhogo says : he strums like he's playing a nerdy physics rock show>> <<@dean402002 says : Overpriced and nothing new in terms of effects as all are available via pedals and daws so I still say it’s a scam product Even your rather informative demo stills shows it as after signal processing so what’s the point of a pick that does nothing new and costs so much ?>>
